Unexpected Encounter

Unexpected Encounter is a painting of a Mule Deer who was strolling in Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona and was startled by humans that unexpectedly crossed his path. Aside from the deer and its expression I was fascinated by the lights and the darks in the scene with their sharp contrasts and abstract shapes. The original painting 20”x16” was done in acrylics on cotton canvas panel.
